
Introduction
The IEEE UiTM Student Branch is a student-led professional organization established at Universiti Teknologi MARA in the year 2000. As one of the earliest IEEE Student Branches in Malaysia, the branch operates under the IEEE Malaysia Section, part of IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific).
IEEE UiTM Student Branch serves as a platform for engineering and technology students to enhance their technical competence, leadership capability, and professional ethics beyond the classroom. Through technical programs, industry engagement, community outreach, and collaborative activities, the branch supports students' holistic development in line with IEEE's mission of advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.

The IEEE UiTM Student Branch was honoured with the Organisational Unit (OU) Award โ Outstanding Student Branch Award 2024 during the 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of IEEE Malaysia Section, held on 7 February 2026 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The award recognises the student branch's outstanding commitment, active participation, and impactful contributions to IEEE activities throughout the year 2024. This achievement reflects the dedication and collaborative efforts of student volunteers, committee members, and advisors in promoting professional development, technical engagement, and leadership among engineering students.
In addition, Muhammad Afiq Syarif Bin Mohd Noor Aziron was presented with the IEEE PES Malaysia Outstanding Student Volunteer Award 2025, acknowledging his exceptional service and contributions to IEEE Power & Energy Society activities.

On 11 March 2026, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) successfully conducted the UiTMโSJTU International Academic Bridge for Emerging Engineers at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), marking a significant milestone in strengthening global academic collaboration and student engagement within the IEEE community.
The morning session began with a campus tour around SJTU's Minhang Campus, offering participants a glimpse into its vibrant academic environment and facilities. A memorable highlight was the photo session at SJTU's iconic signature red gate, a symbolic landmark of the university. This moment beautifully captured the spirit of friendship and collaboration between UiTM and SJTU, while also marking a meaningful milestone in strengthening international academic ties and shared experiences among participants.
The programme then commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Li Yongfu, advisor for the IEEE CASS SJTU Student Branch Chapter, followed by a series of insightful sharing sessions by advisors and student leaders from both institutions. The session highlighted the structure, achievements, and impactful initiatives of the IEEE Student Branches from SJTU and UiTM, fostering meaningful knowledge exchange and mutual learning.
The programme continued with an engaging advisor session and student branch presentations, where participants gained exposure to diverse approaches in organising technical activities, community outreach, and leadership development. These sessions provided valuable insights into best practices and innovative strategies that can be adapted within local contexts.
A highlight of the visit was the SJTU Museum tour, which offered participants a deeper appreciation of the university's rich heritage and contributions to science, engineering, and innovation. The museum showcases the evolution of Shanghai Jiao Tong University since its establishment in 1896, featuring historical archives, rare artifacts, and interactive exhibits that reflect China's advancement in engineering and technology.
Visitors explored galleries presenting the university's milestones, distinguished alumni, and pioneering research contributions across various engineering disciplines. The museum also highlights SJTU's role in national development, particularly in areas such as transportation engineering, maritime studies, and modern technological innovation. Through multimedia displays and curated exhibitions, participants were able to connect the university's historical legacy with its current position as a leading global research institution.
Beyond its academic value, the museum experience provided an inspiring perspective on how strong institutional heritage, innovation, and global collaboration can shape future generations of engineers.

The IEEE UiTM Student Branch celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 with a warm gathering that brought together outgoing and incoming committee members, advisors, and student volunteers. The event marked a joyous transition in the student branch's family tree โ honouring the legacy of the 2024/2025 committee while welcoming the new 2025/2026 committee into the fold.
Beyond the food and festivities, the celebration reinforced the bonds that make IEEE UiTM SB a home away from home. Members shared laughter, reflected on past achievements, and exchanged warm wishes of Maaf Zahir dan Batin โ a meaningful tradition of seeking forgiveness and renewing relationships during the Aidilfitri season.
Heartfelt appreciation was extended to the outgoing committee members of session 2024/2025 for their dedication, late-night meetings, and countless contributions that built the foundation of today's student branch. At the same time, the new committee members of session 2025/2026 were warmly welcomed, with encouragement to carry forward the spirit of unity, excellence, and service that defines IEEE UiTM SB.
The gathering embodied the IEEE UiTM SB theme โ Catalyst of Change, Leaders of Transformation โ setting an inspiring tone for the new session ahead.
