The Student Development Workshop held at UiTM on December 15, 2023, marked a pivotal moment for the students enrolled in the Bachelors in Technology (BTech) course, particularly those in EEE451 – Introduction to Occupational Safety and Health. Led by the esteemed Mr. Ahmad Azeem, the workshop, spanning half a day, was planned to cover diverse aspects of student development. The schedule included sessions that focused on technical skill enhancement, industry trends, soft skills development, and career guidance. The workshop aimed to create an interactive learning environment, fostering engagement and participation among the students. The interactive nature of these sessions not only deepened their understanding the importance of Safety and Health but also provided them with valuable experience that differs traditional classroom learning.
This workshop was in collaboration with Antenna Research Center. This initiative was led by Associate Prof Ts Dr Mohamad Fahmi Hussin and Associate Professor Ir Dr Nurul Huda Abd Rahman, Ir Dr Suhaila Subahir, Dr Robi’atun Adayiah Awang, Dr Hamizan Yon and Dr Noor Hafizah Abdul Aziz are among the committee members.
Mr. Azeem shared real-world examples and case studies, connecting academic knowledge with practical applications. This segment of the workshop empowered students with a broader perspective on the industry landscape, enabling them to align their academic pursuits with the dynamic demands of the professional world.
The 2nd part of Student Development Workshop held at UiTM on January 5th, 2024, that was led by th experienced Mr Zailan Siwan and his team from SATC Training Center. Mr Zailan, through interactive activities and group discussions, students honed their communication and problem-solving abilities. These sessions not only added a layer of practicality to their skill set but also equipped them with the tools needed to thrive in collaborative work environments. One of the workshop's invaluable components was the career guidance session. Students received insights into potential career paths within the EEE field, information about internships, and guidance on industry certifications. This segment not only helped students make informed decisions about their future careers but also motivated them to set realistic and achievable professional goals.
The 2nd workshop was in collaboration with Microwave Research Institute. This initiative was led by Associate Prof Ts Dr Mohamad Fahmi Hussin and Assoc. Prof Dr. Megat Syahirul Amin Megat Ali, Dr. Khairul Khaizi Mohd Shariff and Dr Siti Amalina Enche Ab Rahim are among the committee members.
Post-event feedback from participants overwhelmingly indicated a positive and enriching experience. Students expressed gratitude for the practical insights provided and the relevance of the workshop content to their academic journey. The hands-on activities were particularly praised for their applicability to real-world scenarios, and many participants noted that the workshop had enhanced their confidence in applying theoretical knowledge. The emphasis on communication, teamwork, and problem-solving was viewed as crucial in preparing students for the interpersonal challenges they might encounter in their future careers.
The workshop left a lasting impact on the holistic development of the participating students.
