💻 Nurturing Excellence in Computer Engineering

A Journey of Innovation and Collaboration

🔍 A Glimpse into the Evolution

In the early 1990s, the Discipline of Computer Engineering began as the Computer Engineering Division within the Department of Electrical Engineering. Its role was to support diverse departmental programs. In 1999, it became the Department of Computer Engineering, marking UiTM’s transition into a university.

In 2008, the Centre for Computer Engineering Studies was formed to meet national demands for skilled professionals. In 2021, as part of UiTM’s Restructuring for Impact project, it became a department under the School of Electrical Engineering within the newly unified College of Engineering.

The college continues its mission to develop research and teaching excellence, ensuring students are equipped for the future of technology.

🧪 Research: Unveiling the Frontiers

Our research is led by experienced faculty members across diverse domains, including:

  • Image and Signal Processing
  • Embedded Systems
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Wireless and Next-Gen Networks
  • Vision Systems
  • Network Security

We also house the Information Security and Trusted Infrastructures Laboratory (InSTIL), which leads projects in security, trust, and privacy through national and international research grants.

📜 Professional Certifications

The Centre for Computer Engineering Studies hosts the UiTM PKE Cisco Networking Academy. Since 2001, it has trained CCNA instructors and over a thousand students in networking skills. Today, it serves as:

  • Certified Cisco Academy (CA)
  • Academy Support Centre (ASC)
  • Instructor Training Centre (ITC)

The Cisco curriculum is integrated into degree programs to ensure graduates are industry-ready.

Additionally, UiTM has joined the AWS Academy, embedding the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations syllabus. This enables students to earn industry-recognized cloud certifications and pursue careers in cloud computing.

🎓 Student Activities

We promote holistic student growth through dynamic initiatives like:

  • Netriders Skills Competition
  • CSR WiFi School Project
  • CCNA & CCENT Bootcamps
  • Industry Academic Visits

These activities enhance learning, industry exposure, and community engagement.
